Salome receives the Head of John the Baptist
When Saint John the Baptist was imprisoned by King Herod, Herodias, wife of Herod, persuaded her daughter, Salome, to ask for the Baptist's head on a charger (Mark 6: 17-28).In this candlelit scene, which shows the influence of Caravaggio and his followers, the bearded and powerfully muscled executioner holds up the saint's head, while Salome, seen in strict classical profile, proffers the plate on which it is to be placed. This is an early work, probably painted in Rome some time in the 1630s. It was copied by the English painter William Dobson in about 1640

tom hunter
looking at the photograph taken by tom hunter to recreate the painting by Ophelia sir john Everett Millais, there are a lot of ideas that come to mind about the image. it almost looks like he's walking home and found this women dead in the small cannel. and the location looks like it is at the back of a train station or in someones garden. It makes me fell scared, worried and wanting to find out what has happen to the lady. looking at what she's wearing it looks like she's an innocent lady maybe a mother. she looks undiscovered, almost like a murderer mystery.

Task:
Create an image that says something about you or the people you know, and the places where you live that recalls a theme and composition from historical painting.
Example:
looking at photographer tom hunter who recreates famous poses from famous painting, but the unique thing about he's recreation is that he uses places he's from and uses people he's close to and he also makes the image look so simple because of the places he as decided to photograph. after he then uses Photoshop or illustrator to clean up or enhance the images.
